How to quit a harmful habit?

SHAFAQNA – Many individuals smoke and when doctors tell them to quit, they say that they are used to it, and cannot quit the habit, and if they quit they will suffer; which of course is not right. The human being must be able to get rid of what is stuck to him/her (in bad ways, like a bad habit which sticks to the human being). If an individual cannot quit smoking; then what kind of the human being is this? The late Ayatollah Hojjat (RA) used to be a chain smoker and when he became ill, he came to Tehran and doctors told him: Because you have lung problem, you must quit smoking. He joked and said: I want this chest for smoking, if I cannot smoke, then what is the use of this chest? Doctors said: Anyway, smoking is dangerous for you and is really harmful to you. He asked: Is it harmful? They replied: Yes. He said: I will not smoke again, and by saying it once, he quit smoking. One sentence and he gave up; and this man quit his habit [1].
