SHAFAQNA – The end of Ayah 21 of Surah At-Tur says: “Each individual is in pledge for his/her own deeds”; which means if the deeds are good, they are beneficial to the individual and if the deeds are bad, the individual will be in loss. Ayahs 38 and 39 of Surah Al-Moddathhir say: “Every soul will be held in pledge for its deeds; except the companions of the Right Hand”; therefore, in this Ayahs, the pledge is a negative term; and that is why the companions of the Right Hand and the residents of paradise are excluded. So, those whose deeds are bad will be in difficulty, and need to get themselves freed from these difficulties; but how to do it? Imam Reza (AS) narrated from Imam Ali (AS) who narrated from the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) who said: Your lives are in pledge of your deeds; therefore, free them with repentance . Hence, to free the soul from the consequence of committed sins, the human being must repent to Allah (SWT), in order to free himself/herself from the pledge of his/her own bad deeds.
