SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – According to local media and witnesses, Damascus suffered massive bombardment from terrorist group, the so called Islam Army, which fired at least 40 rockets at homes, leaving many of civilians killed and wounded.
A witness in Damascus reported at least 30 explosions on Thursday (5 Jan.). According to Sham FM local radio station, rockets have hit five districts of the capital, including the Old City.
According to SANA news agency, some of the injured civilians brought to al-Mwasat hospital are in a critical condition.
A witness told Reuters, and local media reported that the so called Islam Army, a group based in the eastern Ghouta region on the outskirts of the city, was behind the attack. The leader of Islam Army, Zahran Alloush, who designated Damascus as a “military zone” earlier this week, claimed on Twitter that the attack is a retaliation strike for the Syrian Air Force’s strikes in Ghouta.
According to latest reports, dozens of civilians wounded and at least three dead.
