What is the ruling on using colour additive which is derived from insects? The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered a question about insect based colour additives for food.

Question: Some colour additives are derived from insects; is it allowed to buy and sell them or use them as colour additives in food production?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: If the blood of those insects does not jump out and parts of the insect is not in it; then there is no problem in buying and selling or using it as colour additive for food.
