SHAFAQNA – At least 23 civilians have lost their lives when Saudi fighter jets carried out an airstrike in Yemen’s southwestern province of Ta’izz as the Riyadh regime continues with its atrocious aerial bombardment campaign against its impoverished southern neighbor.
Local sources told Arabic-language al-Masirah television network that the aerial attack had targeted a vehicle as it was travelling along a road in the province’s Mawza’ district on Wednesday afternoon.
The sources added that the victims were returning from al-Barh market in the neighboring Maqbanah district.
There were reportedly several women and children among those killed in the airstrike.
Al-Masirah cameraman wounded in Saudi drone strike
Meanwhile, a cameraman for al-Masirah television network sustained injuries when a Saudi unmanned aerial vehicle carried out an attack against the channel’s staff in the Harad district of the northwestern province of Hajjah, located approximately 130 kilometers (80 miles) northwest of the capital Sana’a.
Al-Masirah correspondent Walid al-Muthar said the Saudi drone targeted the crew as they were moving to cover relief activities in Harad.
Muthar identified the injured cameraman as Ismail al-Balahi.
Yemeni soldiers, allies make advances in Saudi Arabia
Separately, Yemeni army soldiers and allied fighters from Popular Committees have advanced east of Ulaib Mountains in Saudi Arabia’s southwestern border region of Najran.
A military source, requesting anonymity, said Saudi troops launched a counterattack shortly afterwards to reclaim control over a hilltop but failed despite intense air support.
Saudi Arabia has been incessantly pounding Yemen since March 2015 in an attempt to reinstate Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh, and to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement. The Riyadh regime has, however, failed to reach its goals despite suffering great expense.
The military aggression has claimed the lives of more than 12,000 people, mostly civilians.
