Servants of God or desires?

SHAFAQNA – According to the holy Quran, the servants of God are divided into two groups; servants of Allah (SWT) and servants of their vain desires. In Ayah 23 of Surah Al-Jathia Allah (SWT) says: “Then, do you see the one who takes as God his/her own vain desire? God is aware of this and left him/her astray; and sealed his/her hearing and heart, and put a cover on his/her sight, who then, will guide him/her after Allah (SWT)(has withdrawn guidance)? Will you not then take heed?” From the Quran’s point of view, those who place Iblis, Satans, Jinns, angels, other human beings, idols, and stars as their God; in fact they obey their own vain desires. That is why on the Day of Judgment, Iblis says: Blame yourselves and not me; because they obeyed their own vain desires and Satan only is aware of this and lead them into ways which were in the same direction of their desires. It is narrated from the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) who said: The worst enemy of the human beings is their vain desires [1].
