Shia scholar shot dead in Uganda

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – According to news released by the public relation of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organisation, Sheikh Abdul Qader Mowaya, Manager of the Ahlul Bait and a leader of Shia Muslims in Uganda was shot dead by unknown gunmen. Sheikh Qader was a popular religious figure amongst Shia and Sunni Muslims in the region. He completed many charitable projects with the help of other Muslims including building schools, hospitals, Mosques, Hussainiyahs and water wells. His last project was the completion of Imam Mahdi (AJ) Mosque which has a large Hussainiyah. After the ceremony in Kampala on Friday (26 Dec.), Sheikh Qader’s body was taken to be buried in his birth place, the town of Mayoga.
