Some titles of Imam Ali (AS) as mentioned in the holy Quran (Part one)

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – Jaber Jo’afi narrated from Imam Baqer (AS) who said: Imam Ali (AS) was returning from the War of Nahrawan when he was informed that Moaweieh openly was cursing and insulting Imam (AS) and killing his close companions. Imam Ali (AS) read a sermon there which is counted as one of the last sermons of Imam (AS). After praising Allah (SWT) and greeting the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), Imam Ali (AS) started counting the blessings of God given to the Prophet (PBUH) and himself.

He continued by saying: If what I intend to say had not already been mentioned in an Ayah of Quran, I would not have mentioned it, and that Ayah (Al-Dhuha/11) said: I must talk about all God’s favours granted to me in order to be recognised. Then Imam (AS) started counting the blessings from Allah (SWT) and said: The news have reached me and I feel my death is near and they still have not recognised me, I will leave with you the same two things which were left by the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), the book (Quran) and my Ahlul Bait (Itrah).

Then Imam (AS) said: The things that I want to tell you about myself, if in case they are claimed by another person; surely that person is a liar. Then he started to explain his position till he reached this part of his talk, I have names in Quran which they are particular to me and you should be careful not to be defeated; meaning some people give these names to others and you accept, then you will be defeated by them; and if this happens, you will be misled. Imam Ali (AS) explained in Nahjul Balagha: “Whatever were attributed to me, they have turned them upside down and wrote for others.” Then Imam (AS) explained about a series of Ayahs that mentioned his special titles and some of them will be explained here.
