Syrian Kurds flee terror at home despite US-led airstrikes on ISIL

170,000 Kurds have so far crossed the border into Turkey over the past two weeks. Most of the refugees have found shelter in the Turkish border town of Suruc.

SHAFAQNA – Thousands of Syrian Kurds continue to flee into Turkey despite the ongoing US-led airstrikes on positions held by the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in Syria.

This comes as clashes continued between Kurds in the border town of Kobani and the ISIL militants on Thursday.

The constantly growing number of refugees has raised fears over the plight of Syrian Kurds in Turkey.

The Turkish government has come under fire for incidents where border guards have resorted to tear gas against refugees attempting to cross the border.

Ankara has also prevented Kurds in Turkey from crossing the border to join their brothers in Syria in the fight against ISIL terrorists that are reportedly preparing to launch attacks on Kobani.

Turkey currently hosts nearly 1.5 million Syrians who have fled the conflict back home.

Head of the Kobani Governing Council says the widely-publicized US-led campaign against ISIL has been ineffective.

Despite the retreat of Kurdish fighters from the west of Kobani, fighting reportedly rages on in the eastern and southern flanks of the town, which remains under constant shelling by ISIL.

The Takfiri terrorists have had the strategic Syrian town under siege for the past several days.

ISIL has committed barbarous acts in the areas it has taken over in Syria as well as Iraq.
