SHAFAQNA – A millions of Muslims across the world have pulled together to mark Ramadan, Daesh militants have worked to desecrate and sully the sacred month – hoping to pervert Islam’s holiest fasting ritual to score political points.
A month of reflection, Ramadan was prescribed to Muslims so that they could learn to draw closer to the divine, and reflect upon their actions. Together a month for compassion and contrition, Ramadan is for God, and God alone.
Still many have been those, who, throughout the centuries have attempted to lead Muslims astray, so that, they, tyrants of this world, would grow in wealth and power. Today those tyrants have cloaked themselves of Islam, proclaiming to carry its flag, when they are in fact preaching heresy, and apostasy.
“No innocents in the heart of the lands of Crusaders,” said Daesh ahead of Ramadan, warning it would encourage its militants to terrorise and plunder further so that fear would struck all.
“The tiniest action you do in the heart of their land is dearer to us than the biggest action by us,” Abu Mohammed al-Adnani told followers in a 31-minute audio message. “There are no innocents in the heart of the lands of the Crusaders.”
Al-Adnani encouraged ISIS militants to launch attacks during Ramadan, which starts 7th May and runs until July 5, “to win the great award of martyrdom.
If truly Daesh spoke Islam, its leadership would never call for innocent blood to be shed during Ramadan; its leadership would not in fact lay a hand against peaceful communities as there is no greater evil than to spread violence.
Until we recognise that Daesh stands the antithesis of Islam, we will allow for Islam to be painted with a radical brush. If not for ourselves, we owe our long line of prophets and Imams to speak Truth and reclaim God’s commands.
