The duty of listeners towards unauthentic eulogies/the Grand Ayatollah Khamenei’s answers

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered questions about the duty of listeners towards unauthentic eulogies.

Question: In some religious gatherings, eulogies are read which are not authentic, and these have not been heard by any of the religious scholars or Grand Ayatollahs, and when the eulogists are asked about the source of them, they reply that Ahlul Bait (AS) have made us to understand these and they (Ahlul Bait (AS)) have guided us, and the events of Karbala are not mentioned just in books which describe the events of Karbala (Maqatel), and the sources are not just what scholars have said, but sometimes some cases are discovered by eulogists through inspiration and revelation. Is this the right way of narrating the events or not? And if it is not right, what is the duty of the listeners?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: Narrating subjects according to the above-mentioned ways without authentic narrations or without being registered in history, has no religious base; unless they are the understandings of the narrator of the situation and (eulogist) does not have the knowledge that what is being said is wrong. The duty of listeners is to forbid wrong on the condition that the subject and its conditions are proved to them.
