SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered a question about taking disabled parents to care homes.
Question: I have a mother who for the past 9 years due to brain stroke is disabled and she is not able to do anything and her sons look after her. Now that looking after my mother at home is not right for her own sake, if she is taken to a care home where the medical and other facilities are better, is this from the religious point and kindness to parents allowed or not?
The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: If conventionally it is better and more dignified for the patient, there is no problem, but the responsibility is not lifted from the shoulders of the children and they must always take care of her.
