SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered a question about standing behind the doors of the Mosques at the end of the month of Safar.

Question: It is a few years that a custom is being introduced which looks like a heresy or spreading superstition. Some people especially women on the night of the month of Rabiul Awal by knocking on the doors of the Mosques whilst holding candles from midnight to the time of dawn prayers, recite some prayers, requesting intercession and asking for their wishes, of course they repeat these actions for up to seven Mosques. They believe by doing so, they are giving the news of the end of the month of Safar and the arrival of the month of Rabiul Awal. What is your view about this?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: The mentioned action has no authentic narration and it is not an approved method, although reciting prayers, and asking for wishes from God are appropriate deeds, but there is a problem about the mentioned methods. The religious scholars and believers by giving advice and by preaching prevent such behaviours which lead to weaken the religion.
