SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani answered a question about performing Salaat when travelling for the purpose of hunting animals.
Question: What is the ruling for performing Salaat (the 4 Rokats Salaats) when a person travels for hunting animals?
The Grand Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani: To travel for hunting be it in the sea or dry land, has 3 conditions.
First condition: A person travels for hunting to earn a livelihood (for food and like that). In this condition, the travel is “Halal travel” and the Salaat is performed broken (Qasr).
Second condition: A person travels for hunting for the commercial purposes; meaning to sell the hunted animals and with the money earned, to run his life. In this case, the travel is also “Halal travel” and the Salaat is performed broken.
Third condition: A person travels for hunting for the purpose of play and enjoyment. In this case his travel is “Haram travel” and the Salaat is performed in full format (4 Rokats).
