The Islamic Centre of England – Editorial

SHAFAQNA – Shafaqna has now partnered with The Islamic Center of England to bring you, our readers, additional content and news coverage.

Like us, the Islamic Centre of England believes in cooperation and collaboration based on mutual trust and respect. It is because we are committed to providing a space where ideas and faiths can be debated and discussed peacefully that we have now joined together in our news coverage.

At such a time when hate and violence are tainted the global narrative, let us remember that Islam remains forever a message of peace and compassion. Our task is to emulate such ideal to the best of our abilities, while offering our understanding of the truth according to the teachings of Ahlul Bayt.

There is no greater gift and treasure than that of knowledge.

As Imam Ali (AS) told his sons, Imam Hasan  (AS) and Imam Husayn (AS): “My advice to you is to be conscious of Allah and steadfast in your religion. Do not yearn for the world, and do not be seduced by it. Do not resent anything you have missed in it. Proclaim the truth; work for the next world. Oppose the oppressor and support the oppressed.”

The Islamic Centre of England-London (ICEL) was founded in December 1995, and opened officially in November 1998.
The Centre, in common with other Islamic organisations in Europe, wishes to provide spiritual guidance for the Muslim community at large, and also wishes to cater for the social, cultural, educational and recreational needs of members of the community – especially women and the next generation.
The Centre’s other main objective manifests itself in its sincere effort to disseminate authentic knowledge about Islam and to provide non-Muslims with a better and clearer understanding of Islam.
ICEL seeks to build bridges with the society at large and establish closer ties between peoples of different faiths and cultures all over the world.

The Islamic Centre of England wishes to provide services to members of the Muslim community, in particular, and the wider community at large, across a number of fields; religious guidance and cultural issues are at the forefront.
Highly qualified religious scholars have offered their services to The Islamic Centre of England in order to provide religious guidance, advice and counselling.
