Question: What are the particularities of Imam Mahdi (A.J) according to the Shias?
Answer: The Shia school of thought has certain beliefs in regards to the particularities of Imam Mahdi (Ýa) which are worthy of further research and understanding. These particularities are as follows:
1- The Shia believe that the Mahdi (A.J) is the twelfth successor of the Prophet (Ò) and the son of Imam Hassan Askari (Ýa). His name is MuÎammad, his kunya is AbÙ al-QÁsim, and his title is MahdÐ, ÑÁÎib al-ZamÁn, and QÁÞim.
2- Imam Mahdi (Ýa) is alive right now and since he was born in the year 255 Hijrat, he is more than 1,000 years old.
3- Although Imam Mahdi (Ýa) is alive, he is hidden from the people, and even though he lives a completely natural life, he is not recognized by the people.[1]
