The rewards for those who go on foot to visit the shrine of Imam Hussain (AS)

SHAFAQNA – Imam Sadeq (AS) said to one of his close companions: Visit (Ziarat) the grave of Imam Hussain (AS) and do not forget it. Then Imam Sadeq (AS) was asked: What is the reward for a person who visits the shrine of Imam Hussain (AS)? Imam (AS) replied: A person who goes on foot to visit (Ziarat) the shrine of Imam Hussain (AS), on God’s order for every step, one good deed will be written for him/her; and one of his/her sins will be wiped off as well as the person’s rank will be increased by one degree [1].
In another narration, Imam Sadeq (AS) said: When a person comes out of the house intending to visit the shrine of Imam Hussain (AS), if he/she is on foot, for every step taken, on God’s order one good deed will be accounted for that person and one bad deed is wiped off. When that person reaches the holy shrine, the Almighty will count him/her among good people.
When the Ziarat is completed, God will consider that person among those who succeeded; and when he/she is intending to return, one divine angel will stand in front of the person and will say: The Prophet (PBUH) sends his regards to you with the good news that: Start your actions again as all your past sins have been forgiven [2].
