Tunisia plans to open consulate in Damascus and Syrian embassy in Tunis

SHAFAQNA – News agencies reported that , Tunisia says it has plan to open its consulate in Damascus, asking the Syrian government to reopen its embassy in Tunis. “We will not have an ambassador there (Syria), but Tunisia will open a consulate or put in place a charge d’affaires, and a Syria ambassador is welcome to Tunisia, if Syria wishes so,” Foreign Minister Taieb Baccouche told reporters in Tunis on Thursday, without giving any dates for the move. A consular presence in Syria would help Tunisia find out information about the 3,000 Tunisians who have left to fight alongside the ISIL Takfiri terrorists in Iraq and Syria and who may return home to carry out terrorist attacks, the minister added.
