Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to be held in Turkey

SHAFAQNA – Iran’s Parliament speaker has said cooperation of Islamic countries and possible solutions will be the main focus of the conference.

Parliament official website reported that 10th summit of the Inter-Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Member States is underway and Ali Larijani will represent Iran in the conference which is held in Istanbul.

Mr. Larijani told reporters upon arrival at airport that along the routine agenda of the conference, “it will address the most vexing problems of the Islamic world of the present and the future.”

“Many of challenges Islamic world now facing are of foreign origins, born out of the provocations by outsiders,” Larijani asserted.

“Summits where people’s representatives attend represent the public opinion dominant in Islamic countries, and is a good opportunity to have negotiations directly related to collective destiny of the Muslims,” he told reporters.

“Terrorism and sectarian strife are on record highs and surely the foreign conspiracies and plots play a role as well; this requires the solidarity and unity of Islamic countries to trace the roots of issues and find solutions,” said the Parliament speaker.

“The sidelines of the conference will also provide an opportunity for talking bilateral ties with member states,” Larijani added.
