SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi Zanjani answered a question about the need to pursue treatment for the ill person.
Question: I have an incurable illness but have no wish to pursue treatment to lengthen my life. Is this considered as committing sin?
The Grand Ayatollah Shobairi: If the life of the ill person depends on the treatment, it is Wajib for him/her to pursue treatment; unless the pain and suffering or problems with after-treatment cause the human being to be helpless and desperate.
