What is asceticism?

SHAFAQNA – It is narrated from Imam Hassan (AS) who said: Asceticism (Zohd in Arabic) is to relish piety and be disinclined towards the word [1]. It can be realised from the narration by Imam Hassan (AS) that piety and love of the world are incapable of coexisting. As the interest towards the world grows, one is distanced from the piety and  to the extent one moves away from the love of the world, his/her piety will be increased.
