What is sincerity?

SHAFAQNA – Maybe one of the most important ethical characteristics of a human being towards God and then towards others, is sincerity. Sincerity or Ikhlaas comes from Arabic word Khels, meaning pure or unmixed. In fact any human being who wants to move towards accomplishment should consider sincerity in all its dimensions and have no other concerns in deed and intention except God.

Allah (SWT) praised Prophet Moses (AS) with this characteristic (sincerity) as mentioned in Ayah 51 of Surah Al-Maryam: Mention Moses in the Book. He was sincere and was a messenger, a prophet. Many other Ayahs in the holy Quran refer to the need for religion to be pure for the sake of God, for example Ayah 29, Surah Al-A’araaf; Ayahs 2, 3, 11 and 14 of Surah Al-Zumar.
