SHAFAQNA – Ali ibn Abdulaziz narrated: One day, Imam Sadeq (AS) asked me about Omar ibn Moslem. I replied: He has given up the trade and is praying. Imam (AS) said: Is he not aware that if a person does not go after Halal earning, his prayers are not accepted? Then Imam Sadeq (AS) added: When Ayah 3 of Surah Al-Talaq was sent down, some of the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) gave up work and closed all the doors on themselves and engaged in praying, so that God would grant their sustenance that way. When the Prophet (PBUH) heard about this, he called them up and said: For what motive you have given up work and distanced yourselves from the society? They replied: O’ the Prophet of Allah (SWT), God has guaranteed our sustenance and we are worshipping God. The prophet (PBUH) said: Whoever does so, his prayers are not accepted, you need to work and try to earn Halal earning .
