SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Vahid Khorasani answered a question about breach of promise by a man towards his wife and children.

Question: What is the ruling about breach of promise by a man towards his wife and children?

The Grand Ayatollah Vahid: Breach of promise is allowed but it is detested. And if at the time of making a promise, had intended to breach it, it is Haram, and according to Wajib precaution, if (a man) does not want to fulfill his promise, must avoid making a promise to those in his household for example wife and children.
