SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered questions about taking part in elections of non-Islamic countries.

Question: What is the ruling about taking part in elections in other countries? Is this ruling different between Islamic and non-Islamic countries, and official countrywide election and non-official small election or not? If there is a difference, what is the ruling about each of them?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: Generally, it is Wajib to take part in elections which prevent corruption and/or more corruption, and/or non-participation causes weakening Islam and Muslims.
