Why is it important for a person to pay attention to his/her own faults?

SHAFAQNA – It is narrated from Imam Baqir (AS) who narrated from the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) who said: How prosperous is the person whose heart is filled with fear of God; how prosperous is the one who tries to find out his/her own faults rather than others; and how prosperous is the individual who is humble for the sake of God [1]. A person, whose heart is filled with fear of God, has no fear of others and such a person acts on God’s commands and does not prefer the commands of others to God. A person, who deals with his/her own faults and tries to rectify them, is not after finding the faults of others; and indeed this is a good characteristic for any human being to have or to acquire.
