WORLD IN SHOCK OVER SAUDI, ISRAELI CRIMES, SAYS POLITICAL EXPERT

SHAFAQNA – Ibrahim Mousawi, a political commentator in Beirut has said that the world is in shock over Saudi and Israeli war crimes and human rights’ violations.

Press TV has conducted an interview with Ibrahim Mousawi, a political commentator in Beirut, about Amnesty International’s most recent criticism of Saudi Arabia over its grim human rights record and its atrocities against Yemen.

Mousawi said that this was good and bad at the same time.

It is good that they continue to issue reports to talk about the kind of perpetrations, to talk about the persecution and to talk about all the illegal things that are being done there, he said, adding that it is bad because they are not doing anything to stop this.

“I mean if it is all about reports and issuing them, if it is all about counting the crimes and the kind of repression against the people and against the civil activists, why wouldn’t they do anything about it?

I mean is it the role of the Amnesty International and all the organizations just to say what is happening, to make reports and so we can keep them in the archives or we put them into academic studies?

I believe it is time for the so-called international community… because we need to make a lot of definitions about a lot of expressions and terminology, we need to make real definitions and real actions should be taken. The Amnesty International, other NGOs, other international human rights organizations should step up their efforts in order to hold the perpetrators responsible for what they are doing.

Enough time has passed with all of these happening under the eyes of the so-called international community. I believe it is time now to stop these crimes and to go and do something concrete, something tangible to stop the problem and the suffering of the people there,” he said.

Mousawi said that this so-called international community, this so-called Security Council, United Nations, all these groups of so-called civilized states… they were not doing anything to stop the violations and to stop the atrocities against the people in Yemen by the Saudi regime.

He said, “This is a big problem actually, and I believe maybe we need to make a lot of change. Who believes in the international community? Who believes in them actually? I do not believe in them and I do not believe many would believe again more and more about what they are doing…

They should be stopped and they should be held responsible. They should be sued as perpetrators and as criminals of war and they are not doing anything about it.

This is, if you want, a kind of [complicity] with what is happening. They accept what is happening, otherwise they would have taken some decision. The lives of the Yemeni people is worth nothing according to this international community. Had it been worth anything, they would have done something about it.

They always escape punishment, they always escape any kind of blame and we have seen that. There is a complete coma in the international community about what the Saudis are doing, the same thing that happens with Israel when it comes to the Palestinians in Gaza.”
