World powers not resolute in fighting terrorism: Larijani

SHAFAQNA- Tehran, Sept 21 – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday that the world powers lack resolve to fight the evil phenomenon of terrorism and make an instrumental use of it to achieve their objectives.

According to IRNA, he made the remarks in a meeting with Kenyan Chairman of Senate Committee on National Security and Foreign Relations Mohamed Yusuf Haji.

Larijani said that the western governments adopted dual approach to the international campaign against terrorism and that fighting terrorism requires cooperation of all the independent countries.

Larijani voiced Majlis readiness to transfer experience to and promote parliamentary ties with Kenya in all fields.

He said that Iran and Kenya enjoy longstanding bilateral ties, adding that a positive prospect for enhancing Iran-Kenya ties is conceivable.

“Iran welcomes cooperation with African states including Kenya,” he said.

Iran and Kenya boast capacities for boosting commercial and economic exchanges, he said, noting that given Iran’s recent achievements in modern technologies in various fields such as agriculture, broadening mutual cooperation can contribute to Kenya’s progress and development.

Yusuf Haji, for his part, voiced his country’s readiness to promote ties with Iran, saying that Kenya is aware of Iran’s recent scientific and technological achievements and is interested to expand cooperation with Iran.

Confirming Larijani’s remarks that powers lack determination to counter terrorism, he added that interference in other countries’ affairs and accessing their natural resources are among their objectives.
