Xi: Gov’t has ‘unwavering stance’ on nat’l reunification

The General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, Xi Jinping, has met with a Taiwanese delegation on Friday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.

The delegation, composed of the island’s pro-reunification groups, was led by New Alliance Association chairman Hsu Li-nung and New Party Chairman Yok Mu-ming.

At the meeting, Xi said the Central government takes “a firm and unwavering stance” on national reunification. And the cross-Strait peaceful development would not change despite new problems facing the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. He stressed the central government can never tolerate any activity that aims to divide the country. Xi has called on both sides to strengthen confidence and work for the nation’s rejuvenation.

Taiwan delegates agrees to promote communications to realize the peace and unification of the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. The delegation is on a six-day visit to the mainland, at the invitation of the Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee.
