SHAFAQNA – At least 10 Shia Muslims were martyred and dozens were injured including women and children on Thursday when a roadside bombs hit two passenger vans in Gilgit and Peshawar in northern Pakistan, The Shia Post reports. The incident occurred near Haramosh village on Gilgit-Skardu road (around 30 miles south of Gilgit) when a passenger van was hit by a roadside bomb blast. The passenger van was going to Haramosh which is a completely Shia populated valley.
7 Shia Muslims including a woman embraced martyrdom and 11 Shiites including children were injured when their van exploded due to takfiri terrorist’s planted bomb inside the van on Thursday. The passengers belonging Shia majority Parachinar area were on way to Parachinar via Hangu from Peshawar.
The gory incident occurred on Kohat Road in Bazid Khel area of Peshawar. The bomb was planted beneath a passenger seat and exploded in the outskirts of Peshawar, while the bus was en route to the town of Hangu.
Syed Jameel Shah, a spokesman for Peshawar’s main Lady Reading Hospital, confirmed the death toll. Some of the injured were said to be in critical condition.
Martyrs were identified as: Jamil Hussain, the FC cop, Fazal of Bazid Khel, Imtiaz Hussain, Sadaf Ali. Identity of 3 martyrs has not been established so far. Some of the injured were identified as: Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah, Shahid Rehman, Amjad Ali, Ishtiaq Hussain.
In Gilgit, at least three Shia Muslims were martyred when an explosion ripped through a passenger van in Gilgit, while nine people, including four women, have reportedly been injured. The vehicle exploded and caught fire near Alam Bridge, located almost 60km West of Gilgit city, close to Jaglote town on Thursday.
An eye-witness named Mir Masoom Shah, who was at the DHQ hospital Gilgit, told local media correspondent that a bomb had been planted on the road-side near a culvert. The eye-witness also said that there were at least 25 people in the van when it was hit by the ‘road-side’ bomb. This information could not be verified from official sources.
Police sources have told Pamir Times that the nature of the blast is being investigated from all angles. There are reports that a 3 feet deep crater has been created at the blast site.
Some of the deceased and injured have been identified as Aqeel Shah s/o Sultan Shah, Mushtaq s/o Ali Madad and Syed Sabir s/o Baba Jan. The injured have been identified as Huda, Tahayya, Isha, Madiha, Zainab, Shama and Imrana.
The banned Terrorists Outfit Sipah-e-Sahaba aka AhleSunnat Wal Jamaat and Taliban were involved in the attack on passenger bus to ignite sectarian strife in Gilgit City to fulfill Nawaz Government agenda to destabilize Pakistan and eliminate the present environment of Shia and Sunni Unity in the Country especially in GB.
Speaking to reporters, senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohammad Ali confirmed the number of dead, which included two women. He said that the wounded also included a large number of women.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals following the explosion.
Police has started investigating the incident, although details regarding the exact nature of the blast have not yet been released.
The National Counter Terrorism Authority, through letter number 876 had informed the Home Dept of Gilgit-Baltistan regarding the terror threat yesterday. Reports to this effect had also been published in regional newspaper.
