SHAFAQNA- In his first address to parliament as U.K Prime Minister, Boris Johnson launches attack on the Labour front bench for appearing on Iranian state-owned TV, accusing Jeremy Corbyn of siding with Iran.
Appearing in parliament for the first time since becoming Prime Minister, Mr Johnson was asked by Mr Corbyn if Persian Gulf tension and Iran would top his agenda.
“How on earth could he [Corbyn] ask about Iran? ” , Mr Johnson said. “A right honorable gentlemen who has been paid by Press TV, who repeatedly sides with Tehran rather than our friends in the United States”, thenational reported.
However, just hours later, his father Stanley spoke to Press TV about his son becoming UK prime minister.
Boris Johnson’s father has told Iranian state television that the prime minister “loves” Iran and that he is “very much looking forward to him building bridges with Iran” , businessinsider mentioned.
He added “Iran to him will mean Darius, Xerxes — you know, Iran means so much to him. So the chance to have longstanding relationships with a country with such a fantastic history.”
Darius and Xerxes are former rulers of historical Persian Empire, which included modern-day Iran.
