SHAFAQNA- The remaining Iran nuclear deal signatories want to safeguards the pact and criticized the United States for its unilateral sanctions, China’s representative said on Sunday after attending a JCPOA joint commission meeting in Vienna.
Representatives of Iran and the 4+1 (UK, France, Russia and China plus Germany) held a meeting in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Sunday in an emergency meeting of JCPOA joint commission in a bid to save Iran’s nuclear deal.
The meeting has been convened at the request of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Iran, and was expected to examine issues linked to the implementation of all aspects of JCPOA, the website of EEAS reported.
Fu Cong, director general of the Department of Arms Control at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, at a press conference following the meeting said “I have two take-away messages from today’s meeting”.
“First, all sides have expressed their commitment to safeguard the JCPOA and to continue to implement the JCPOA in an objective manner and a balanced manner”, xinhuanet told.
“The parties also expressed support for the attempts of China to implement the JCPOA, in particular on the issue of supporting trade and stable relations with Iran”, Fu Cong said.
“The INSTEX issue was also raised. As for China’s concern, we call for expanding INSTEX to include other areas of the economy. We also call for expanding this tool for everyone, for third countries”, he also added, Mehrnews Agency told
Meanwhile, after the meeting, the Russian representative also said that all participants are fully committed to deal.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi described Sunday’s emergency meeting with parties to the 2015 Iran nuclear deal as “constructive”.
“The atmosphere was constructive. Discussions were good. I cannot say that we resolved everything, I can say there are lots of commitments,” he told Reuters.
Before attending the emergency session on Iran’s nuclear deal in Vienna, Abbas Araghchi said UK’s seizure of the oil tanker carrying Iranian oil in the Strait of Gibraltar is a violation of Iran nuclear deal, iranpress told.
Araghchi also met with the Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), Helga Schmid and representatives from China and Russia before the extraordinary meeting of a joint commission on the 2015 nuclear deal – the JCPOA.
