SHAFAQNA– Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif says U.S is not interested in diplomacy to resolve the nuclear standoff despite its calls for talks.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Zarif said he had been recently sanctioned by the United States after turning down an invitation to the White House by US President Donald Trump.
“I was told in New York I would be sanctioned in two week unless I accepted that offer, which fortunately I did not,” said the Iranian minister.
By imposing the boycott on him, Washington has closed the door to diplomacy, he said, noting, “Sanctioning a foreign minister means failure in talks.”, press tv told.
Iranian foreign minister in a series of messages referred to his press conference on the occasion of the Journalist Day in Iran and urged the regional leaders to focus on regional solutions, IRNA told.

I also said that while @realdonaldtrump may want photo op, the US isn’t interested in talks; rather, Iran’s submission.
That will never happen. An example of US tactics: Threatening to designate somebody in two weeks unless he accepts your invitation to chat in the Oval Office.
Zarif at a press conference said “Washington was unable to rally enough support for the initiative”
“Today, the United States is alone in the world and cannot create a coalition. Countries that are its friends are too ashamed of being in a coalition with them,” he said, referring to reports that some countries, including Germany, have refused to take part in the mission.
“They brought this situation upon themselves, with lawbreaking, by creating tensions and crises”, ALJAZEERA told.
“In my view, negotiations and diplomacy will never end. Negotiation has always been and will always be on my agenda. Even in times of war negotiations will exist”, Zarif pointed out.
UK complicit in US economic terrorism against Iran: Zarif
“The UK government has been complicit in the US’s economic terrorism against Iran,” he told on Monday.
The Iranian top diplomat was referring to British naval forces’ seizure of an Iranian-operated supertanker in the Strait of Gibraltar off Spain on July 4. The UK seized the vessel on the allegation that it was carrying Iranian oil to Syria in violation of the European Union’s unilateral sanctions on the Arab country.
Zarif repeated Tehran’s condemnation of the UK seizure as an act of “piracy.”
“Economic terrorism is a reality today. It equals targeting ordinary people in the hope that they would implement your policies,” Zarif said.
The top diplomat reminded that the Persian Gulf’s security is Iran’s responsibility, and asserted that Iran will no longer turn a blind eye to “maritime offences” in the strategic waters.
