SHAFAQNA– The Council of the Caucasian Muslims has invited all Azeri Muslims to participate in mourning sessions that are held in commemoration of the martyrdom of the grandson of the Prophet Mohammad, Imam Hussein (A.S.).
The Council in a statement announced that, the Day of Ashura falls on September 10 and urged all Azeri Muslims (Shia and Sunni) to attend ceremonies and mourning processions that will be held to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his Ahlul Bayt and companions.
The Council of the Caucasian Muslims stated that the Battle of Karbala and the atrocities that happened at the hands of the forces of then Umayyad Caliph Yazid bin Muawiya shows Imam Hussein -who wanted to bring justice to society- is an example of high human morale for the humankind.
According to the council, Muharram processions should increase Muslim faith and boost the spirit of nationalism. It finally asked Azeri clerics and preachers to provide people with correct details about Imam Hussein’s cause, the Battle of Karbala and the philosophy of martyrdom in Shiism.
