Iraqi President attended Ashura ceremony in Kurdistan +Photos

SHAFAQNA- The Iraqi president attended the Ashura ceremony of the Sadat Mosque in the northern Kurdish region of Kurdistan.

According to the Iraqi Presidential Bureau’s website, Iraq’s President, Barham Saleh, attended today’s Ashura [1] ceremony at the Sadat Mosque in the area of ​​Barzanjeh in Sulaimaniyah province, east of the Kurdistan Region, and condolences the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Husayn (AS) to the attendees of the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Saleh said “Imam Husayn (A.S) has always calls us to freedom, benevolence and raising awareness of the current political and social challenges, avoiding violence, love for the home and completing the reform project”.

The Iraqi president also said, recalling the values ​​of a unique personality of Imam Husayn (A.S), necessitates talking about his Islamic character and his human aspirations behind the great challenges.

He further emphasized that the Iraqi people’s confrontation with ISIS terrorism and their victory against Daesh, represents a corner of the values ​​of Imam Husayn’s uprising, where moderation, opposition to extremism, and confrontation with tyranny were the values which Imam Husayn (A.S) and his companions defended them until they martyred for these values in Karbala [2].
