SHAFAQNA- Nearly a week after claiming drone attacks on Saudi oil facilities, Yemen’s Houthis say will stop targeting the kingdom.
The statement from UN envoy for Yemen came after Houthis announced a halt in all attacks against the territory of Saudi Arabia, hoping “the gesture would be answered by a stronger gesture” from the Saudis.
The UN envoy for Yemen says the Houthis’ initiative to halt attacks on Saudi Arabia “could send a powerful message of the will to end the war” in Yemen.
Martin Griffiths’ comments Saturday came hours after the Houthi announcement, and a week after the Houthis claimed a strike that crippled a key oil facility in Saudi Arabia, trtworld reported.
Friday’s statement by Mahdi al-Mashat, head of the Houthi’s supreme political council, that the group will cease missile and drone attacks on its much larger neighbour to the north, warned that continuing the war could lead to “dangerous developments”, news.sky told.
