SHAFAQNA- Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi who travelled to Saudi Arabia earlier this week, has expressed optimism about finding a solution for the regional matters.
In a statement issued at the end of his visit to the kingdom, Abdul-Mahdi announced that his trip meant to congratulate Saudi Arabia’s national day to King Salman bin Abdel-Aziz. The Iraqi premier added that he met with the king and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and discussed the growing relationship between the two neighbors.
“Talks were direct, clear and deep; I spoke with the king and his son about the situation of the region, efforts to defuse tensions and preventing the possibility of any war. We also discussed ways to strengthen ties between Riyadh and Baghdad as well as oil and trade sectors”, he stated.
Abdul-Mahdi said he received very good responses from King Salman and his crown prince and that he is optimist that things could be resolved without any need to a war.
The Iraqi prime minister stated that no one seeks a confrontation and all want to ease the current conditions, things are complicated and we should wait until problems are solved and all parties reach a consensus.
