SHAFAQNA- The Iraqi counter terrorism agency said on Tuesday it foiled a plot by Daesh to target Arbaeen Pilgrims in Karbala using 750 kilograms of TNT, According to Sputnik Arabic.
The agency said in a statement: “According to accurate intelligence and pre-emptive operation carried out a force from the Counter-Terrorism and in coordination with security units an inspection in one of the agricultural areas south of Baghdad,”pointing out that” during the operation [it] was found explosive materials, a 20 bags of material (TNT) weighing 750 kilograms intended for use in the manufacture of explosive devices”, mbsnews reported.
He added “where was a terrorist cell belonging to the terrorist organization” Daesh “plans to target Arbaeen Pilgrims”.
Millions of Muslims from inside and outside Iraq stream towards the holy city of Karbala, south of Baghdad in the weeks leading to the day of Arbaeen.
