Why believers must protect their own dignity?

SHAFAQNA – In Ayah 8 of Surah Al-Munafiqoon it is mentioned that “ Honour and dignity is appropriate for the believer, and the believer deserves honour and dignity.” In Islamic teachings, honour and dignity of the believer has been mentioned in different terms such as: compassion, generosity, preciousness, mettle, broad-minded [1]. It is narrated from Imam Askari (AS) who said: How inappropriate it is for a believer to be attached to a thing that causes his/her indignity [2]. In another narration, Imam Sadeq (AS) said: Allah (SWT) has granted control and power for any task to the believer except to humiliate himself/herself [3].
