It took Abdul Qader Gilani 15 months to memorize the enture Holy Book, according to the Yeni Safak daily.
He is now helping 13 other inmates at Konya Prison to memorize the Quran.
“When I was sentenced to 18 months in prison, I knew there was something good in the verdict,” he said.
“At that moment, I decided to become a memorizer of the entire Quran, although prior to that I would have never thought to be able to achieve that.”
He added that the prison authorities helped him on his path to learn the Quran by heart
