SHAFAQNA– An old church in Canada’s city of Surrey, in state of British Colombia, which was established in 1947 has been sold and is to turn into a Mosque.
Al Mustafa International University bought the church for 1 million dollars from its board of trustees after they decided to sell the property. They have cited lack of enough churchgoers which has reduced from 200 in the past years to hardly dozens now. Both Muslims and Indian Sikhs rushed to buy the property and Muslims won the bid.
Church officials say new owner Al Mustafa University plans to turn it into a Mosque and a research center for Muslims. They say they are pleased to see their place of worship has turned into another place of worship.
Al Mustafa Islamic University is set to take the responsibility of the property from November 2019.
