Uganda’s Central Mosque received some Qurans, Islamic Books

SHAFAQNA- Iqna: About 20 copies of the Holy Quran and 60 Islamic books with English translation, were gifted by the Iranian Cultural Center in Uganda to the library of the Central Mosque in Arua District, northern region of the African country.

According to the website of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization, the Iranian cultural attaché in Uganda gifted the books during a visit to the region on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Islamic Unity Week.

The books were on religious and cultural themes and studies of Iran and the Islamic Revolution.

He had a meeting with Sheikh Abdullah Joma, imam of the mosque and the religious judge of the city.

The African cleric highlighted the unity among Muslims as the great heritage of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and lauded Imam Khomeini’s (RA) declaration of the Islamic Unity Week.

The 17th day of Rabi al-Awwal, which falls on November 15 this year, is believed by Shia Muslims to mark the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), while Sunni Muslims regard the 12th day of the month as the birthday of the last prophet.

The interval between the two dates is celebrated every year as the Islamic Unity Week.

Late Founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini (RA) declared the occasion as the Islamic Unity Week back in the 1980s.
