What is the ruling on building a shrine based on a dream? The Grand Ayatollah Sobhani’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Sobhani answered questions about building holy shrines.

Question: In some areas, holy places by the name of Ziaratgah (shrine), or Imamzadeh are built that their bases are dreams. Are these dreams correct? Also in some areas, some trees are considered as holy, for example cedrus/cedar tree is revered; is this type of behaviour allowed according to the religion?

The Grand Ayatollah Sobhani: About the lineage of the individuals, the lineage scientists and the specialists on this matter should be referred to, so according to authentic documents, lineage of the individuals to Ahlul Bait (AS) can be ascribed. But revering cedar tree has no bases; the late Sadooq in Elalul Sharaye’a in a detailed narration from Imam Ali (AS) narrated that As’habul Ras who are described as a Moshrik tribe in the holy Quran, used to worship a tree and called it king tree.
