SHAFAQNA- Ghulam Mohammad Karukhi, one of Afghanistan’s Sunni scholars, described the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (A.S) as one of the most important historical events of humanity. He said that if we present this event realistically to the public it could bring us together and unify people. While referring to “commandment to good deeds” and “prohibition of evil”, which is the philosophy of the uprising of Imam Hussain (A.S), he said that in the modern times, the unity is the equivalent of good and division is equivalent to evil. He said that any move that separates us from each other is forbidden (Haram).
Karukhi considered convergence and unity and avoiding differences and dissociation as very important necessities of today’s Muslims, especially the Muslims of Afghanistan, and emphasized: “Today, unity, consensus and participation are among the duties. Colonialism has created differences in different names, pitted us against each other and forced us to sell our resources in a raw and easy way and take them and cook them and sell them to us ten times the price. In this way, they harmed us both economically and socially, as well as unity and politics and security. Ignorance of religious texts, ignorance of historical texts, ignorance of the requirements of the time and ignorance of friend and foe caused us to be in the path desired by the enemy and to bring them closer to their goals.”
He added : “Any move that would separate us is forbidden (“evil”). We must respect each other’s beliefs and personalities and should be active in our specific field, but we have to be united in the general policies and about Islam as a whole. We must be united because unity causes our progress, excellence, growth and salvation from the bloody clutches of global tyranny and colonialism. The result of division is: poverty, servitude, injustice, discrimination and darkness.
We have hundreds of verses in Islam indicating that the purpose of sending the Prophet (PBUH) and the holy Quran was to salivate the people from darkness and ignorance to light and faith. Why do we come into the darkness of ignorance and difference if light is beside us? The purpose of sending the Messenger of God was the same purpose of all the prophets sent for humanity: to enlighten the people and restore their humane nature.
