Over 2.5 Million Pilgrims Enter Iraq for Arbaeen So Far

SHAFAQNA- Iraqi ministry of interior said that more than 2.5 million Shia pilgrims from Iran and other countries have entered Iraq so far.

It said the Arabeen pilgrims have travelled to the Arab country air land and air.
Sami Sudani, the head of Iraqi Border Crossings Passports Department, said the country has informed Iran that it is ready to host 2 million more Iranian pilgrims in the following days.
He added that all necessary preparations have been made to provide services to the pilgrims and ensure their security.
Each year, millions of pilgrims march to Iraq’s holy city of Karbala for Arbaeen.
The Arbaeen mourning ceremony is one of the largest religious gatherings in the world.
It marks the 40th day after the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and his companions in the 680 AD battle of Karbala.
This year, Arbaeen falls on Thursday, December 3 in Iraq.
