29th edition of the state’s Quran recitation competition in Nigeria

SHAFAQNA- The competition is to feature 224 participants who will be contesting in six categories.

The Executive Secretary of the state Islamic Education Bureau, Yakub Abbas Yakub, who disclosed this to the Nigerian Tribune, in Dutse, said the participants were drawn from the 27 local government areas of the state.

Abbas Yakub explained that arrangements were in top gear for feeding, accommodation and other logistics for the success of the competition.

He stated that the released fund would also cover the inspection and screening of the competitors as well as preparation for the forthcoming national competition in Edo State.

He commended Governor Sule Lamido for his wisdom in upgrading the Qur’an recitation competition to its current level, adding that some of those given scholarship by the state government had completed their degrees in various universities abroad, including Sudan.

“Among them, there are two who performed so excellently that the university in Sudan retained them as lecturers. Even some of the people supervising the current competition are among those sponsored by Lamido,” he said.
