Terrorists are not Muslims, says cleric in India

SHAFAQNA – On the occasion of Eid al Fitr, a message was sent loud and clear that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism.

“Muslims are not terrorists and terrorists certainly are not Muslims,” said Sayed Tanvirpeeran Hashmi, a senior Islamic cleric, who led the Ramadan prayers at the Dakhani Idgah here on Thursday.

Condemning the recent terrorist attack on Madina, Saudi Arabia, he said that some misguided men in the name of Islam and Jihad were committing inhuman acts of terrorism which Islam does not endorse even in the slightest form.

Sayed Hashmi cautioned the youth against brainwashing by elements that radicalise Muslims in the name of Islam.

Later, he submitted a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep condemning the attack. Sayed Hashmi appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to send the memorandum to the President.

Meanwhile, the festival was celebrated with religious fervour across the district here on Thursday by Muslims, who thronged the numerous mosques here to offer special prayers.

There was large attendance of devotees at all masjids where special prayers were offered and sermons were delivered.

Meanwhile, after prayers, people greeted each other.
