Science Daily: Judging your own happiness could have negative effect

Shafaqna Science- Trying to judge your own happiness could have a negative effect. A new study says it’s better to accept your feelings, according to Science Daily. The American Psychological Association says judging how happy you are could make you less happy.

In three experiments involving more than 1,800 people, researchers found that worrying about happiness makes you feel worse. The research was published in the journal Emotion.

Thinking too much about happiness could be related to fears of not measuring up or not being as happy as others, said lead researcher Felicia Zerwas, PhD.

The research showed that accepting your emotions, whether positive or negative, can help you be happy and feel good.

According to the study, worrying about happiness was also associated with lower overall satisfaction, well-being and fewer symptoms of depression.

The research also found that worrying about happiness makes people more negative about good things.
