Shafaqna English- 23.7 million people in Afghanistan are dependent on humanitarian aid, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said.

OCHA said in a post on X on Tuesday (13 Aug 2024) that 48 percent of Afghanistan’s population live below the poverty line, and 12.4 percent are experiencing food insecurity. The UN’s office highlighted that economic poverty has significantly increased in the past few years.

According to OCHA, of the more than $30 billion budget requested by the organization for 2024, only 25 percent has been funded.
