Shafaqna English- The Iraqi Ministry of Environment unveiled measures to combat the country’s air pollution problem, concentrating on Baghdad and Basra.
Amir Ali Al-Hassoun Director General of the Ministry’s Environmental Awareness and Media Department, noted that Basra and Baghdad are the two cities with the greatest pollution in Iraq, with Basra being severely affected by petroleum-related activities in addition to manufacturing activities and transportation.
In order to mitigate the adverse effects of pollution on the environment, the Ministry suggested expanding green areas and creating green corridors inside and surrounding Baghdad and Basra.
